Elected to Nebraska Legislature: 2008

Born Nov. 9, 1964, in Agana, Guam.

Education: Graduate of Georgetown University (B.A. in business administration and international business), 1986; University of Nebraska-Lincoln (M.A. in training and development), 1994.

Occupation: President, City Girl Communications; guest faculty, University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Public Health.

Former: Director of urban affairs, Nebraska governor’s office (1999-2006).

Member: Board of directors/executive committee and planning, allocation and community development cabinet, United Way of the Midlands; state director, Women in Government; Florence Kiwanis; North Omaha Commercial Club; board of trustees/executive committee, Girls Incorporated of Omaha; Pilgrim Baptist Church; American Council of Young Political Leaders; Leadership Omaha Alumni Association.

Former member: Commission for the Protection of Children; advisory board, Wells Fargo Bank; Great Plains Public Health Leadership Institute; board, Nebraska AIDS Project; board, Omaha Public Library Foundation.

Honors and awards: Award for public advocacy, National Coalition of 100 Black Women; Ten Outstanding Young Omahans, Omaha Jaycees; fellowship, Rotary International Foundation
