I worked with Leia Baez (Douglas County PIO) and some others to try to make this a little easier to follow. This document is intended to explain the process of protesting a property valuation in Douglas County, and provide a list of items/documents the property owner should consider submitting with their property valuation protest.

There were no changes to this document since it is not a Douglas County document. This guide covers many of the same questions/topics as the Douglas County Clerk’s Informational Letter, but this document is a little bit broader since it addresses dates and deadlines for counties all over the State. However, it is still a good resource for Douglas County property owners.

Douglas County’s Board of Equalization website, www.boardofequalization.org, will have this information and other helpful information available for constituents to review.

The 2017 Property Valuation Protest form is still being worked on. This is taking longer than I’d like, but new concerns keep arising with each new draft that is created. We want to simplify the form, but we need to gather the necessary information from the property owner. We will get it done (we have to), but I’d very much appreciate your continued patience while we come up with the best solution possible for the protest form.
