The Agriculture Committee is responsible for processing legislation involving the following subject areas:

  • warehouses; public grain warehouses; grain storage
  • Department of Agriculture; Nebraska State Fair Board; county fairs
  • farming and ranching
  • agricultural products; research, development, and utilization; foods; milk, eggs
  • fertilizer; feeds; agricultural chemicals
  • weather modification; climate assessment
  • cooperatives
  • weights and measures
  • weeds; noxious weeds
  • lodging; eating facilities; Nebraska Pure Food Act; meat inspection
  • pests and pesticides; animals
  • seeds
  • pet shops; commercial breeders

During session, the Agriculture Committee meets on Tuesdays in Room 1524 on the 1st Floor of the Capitol.

Nebraska’s unique Unicameral Legislature relies heavily on the “second house” – the citizens of the State of Nebraska.
