Speaker Flood Comments on Kearney Hospital Dispute

LINCOLN, NEB. (April 28, 2010)—Sen. Mike Flood of Norfolk, Speaker of the Nebraska Legislature, issued the following statement regarding the Kearney hospital dispute:

“I’m extremely disappointed Good Samaritan Hospital and the physicians representing the proposed Kearney Regional Medical Center are unable to move forward with a one-hospital solution. Our Easter weekend discussions sent everyone home with an expectation that the two sides would work through their differences and find common ground on the specific issues. I remain convinced that, left unresolved, two separately owned hospitals in Kearney may well diminish access to all of the health services currently available in central Nebraska. This remains a Kearney issue and deserves a Kearney solution. I intend to visit with my colleagues in the Legislature and Kearney community leaders before making any further comment.”
