As the Chair of the Legislature’s Education Committee, I have the privilege of meeting many of our State’s great educators. As a hopefully rejuvenating summer break comes to an end and the 2025 school year kicks off, we should all take a moment to thank our great teachers and education staff for the great work they do.
Teaching and shaping the future generation of Nebraskans is one of the most important careers one can choose to have. When a child is learning the basics of math in a classroom, they aren’t just learning addition and subtraction. They are forming the building blocks to study engineering and construct the next beautiful building in our state.
When a child is learning science in a classroom, they aren’t just learning about how plants grow. They are learning the essentials to someday create the next innovation in Nebraska agriculture and continue our state’s great tradition of feeding the world.
When a child is learning reading and writing in a classroom, they aren’t just learning the basics of grammar and spelling. Instead, they are building the skills to someday write a great resume and land their dream career.
From our soil to our water Nebraska is rich with abundant resources. But one of our greatest resources in the entire state is found in our classrooms. Everyday our teachers work tirelessly to teach and shape the future generation and our State is much better because of them. To every teacher, coach, custodian, paraprofessional, nurse, staff member, and homeschool educator who is shaping our future generation- thank you, and God bless you in the coming year!
