Redistricting Committee introduces bills
On Thursday, May 5, 2011, the Redistricting Committee introduced 5 more redistricting bills–LB 700, which changes boundaries of the public service commissioner districts; LB 701, which changes boundaries for members of the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska; LB 702, which changes boundaries for members of the State Board of Education; LB 703, which changes legislative district boundaries; and LB 704, which changes congressional district boundaries.
The bills are scheduled for hearing on Friday, May 13, 2011. The committee has scheduled hearings for 9 am and 1 pm (Central Time), in Room 1525, at the State Capitol. Testimony will be received on all 5 bills at both hearings.
The hearings will also be available via videoconference at several locations throughout the state. The morning hearing will be held in Norfolk, Omaha, Columbus, and Scottsbluff, while the afternoon hearing will held in Alliance, North Platte, Hastings, and McCook.
The public is welcome to attend and testify at any of the locations.
